ADNOC has a positive and lasting impact on the Emirate of Abu Dhabi; creating thousands of jobs, driving the growth of a diverse knowledge-based economy, and helping to facilitate Abu Dhabi’s socioeconomic development.

We constantly look for ways in which we can positively impact society; investing in education and research, creating unique employment opportunities, and developing critical infrastructure that supports Abu Dhabi’s growth and development.

We constantly look for ways that we can positively impact the communities in which we operate, and meet with local stakeholders regularly to discuss both current and future projects. This continuous dialogue ensures we are able to proactively address any community concerns, and identify ways that we can make a positive and lasting contribution to society.

Our strategic community investments include the development of roads, hospitals, schools and mosques, along with philanthropic donations to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Children with Special Needs, Emirates Red Crescent, and local sports and cultural clubs. We also provide humanitarian aid and relief assistance to a number of international causes.

Al Dhafra Region

ADNOC has a permanent presence in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra Region, and works alongside the Al Dhafra Region Development Council to support the sustainable economic growth and social development of the region.

We actively support the communities of Ruwais, Madinat Zayed, Liwa and Shuweihat – collectively known as Al Gharbia, or the Western Region – providing resources, employment and training opportunities to UAE nationals. The region’s companies are also given priority in the provision of contracting and supply services.

We also sponsor several high profile annual events in the region, including the Liwa Date Festival, which encourages more sustainable cultivation and irrigation practices; the Al Dhafra Camel Festival, a unique festival with the world’s only camel beauty contest and the Al Gharbia Falconry Festival, which provides an opportunity for falconers, experts and researchers to enjoy the traditional sport of falconry.

Ruwais Housing Complex

One of ADNOC’s biggest success stories is the transformation of Ruwais, located 240 kilometers west of Abu Dhabi city, from a remote desert site to a modern industrial city.

We created the Ruwais Housing Complex in 1980, a multi-million-dollar investment that provides residential facilities for employees of the Ruwais Industrial Complex, our downstream operations hub. Distributed over a geographical boundary of 15 km2 this complex includes over 7,000 residential units - ranging from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom, double-story ‘executive’ villas – and features a number of recreation parks, planted with more than 30,000 trees.

The complex also features a modern general hospital and purpose-built clinic, 5 schools – providing elementary to secondary education – a shopping mall with 53 outlets, in addition to 16 kiosks with ice ring, a Cineplex, and 5 recreation centers/health clubs.

Ruwais Hospital

We established Ruwais Hospital, along with a purpose-built clinic, to provide medical care to the residents of the Ruwais Housing Complex. The hospital provides a full range of general and emergency medical services, including cardiology, maternity, pediatrics, dentistry and ophthalmology, on both an out-patient and in-patient basis.

The emergency department, which is staffed by highly-skilled medical officers and well-trained nurses, is open 24 hours a day and operates a round-the-clock ambulance service, not only for ADNOC employees and their families but the whole of the immediate neighborhood.

The fully-integrated RHC clinic is open six days a week and provides a comprehensive health-care program to all residents of the housing complex. It offers a wide range of general practitioner and specialist services, including nursing and child welfare, immunization and vaccination, school health, dental and physiotherapy services.

Preserving the UAE's Cultural Heritage

We proudly sponsor several high profile annual events that include the Liwa Dates Festival, which showcases our nation’s valued fruit and encourages local farmers to adopt more sustainable cultivation and irrigation techniques; the Al Dhafra Camel Festival, a unique festival with the world’s only camel beauty contest; the Al Gharbia Watersports Festival, a 10-day event that attracts watersport amateurs and professionals from around the world; and the Al Gharbia Falconry Festival, which provides an opportunity for falconers, experts and researchers to enjoy the traditional sport of falconry.
